How A Yagna Works For Spiritual Positivity

By Mary Graham

Hinduism and related philosophies rely on a system of sacrifice in order to balance or serve the divine sources. Sacrifice has no negative connotations here, but is more in line with worship, an intense and transcendent experience that should not be missed. It is all interrelated with the religious and ritual systems that have been practice devoutly for centuries.

The Vedic system is the basis for things that are found in religions that were founded in the Ganges, Indus and Brahmaputra River region. This is called Yagna, which is a physical rite that finds its parameters in Vedas. This is a perfected system that follows formalities as well as rules that conform to needs of supplicants.

Priests or Brahmanas perform these for those who are in need of them. Supplicants schedule their practice according to their vital signs and the signs available in the visible universe. The ritual centers the spirit in a Yagam, the rite proper to achieve the state of Yogam, or positive harmony with the universal ideals. Brahma is the first and most perfect worshipper of these ideals.

For the final ritual that governs universal movements, Brahma needs to put all the sacrifices together to create the perfect worship. So all the elements found and performed in Yagam should be up to par with in the universal sense, so that gods and humans can work together perfectly to keep to the primary objectives of the universe. This is the reason why it keeps on going.

Yagam and its cosmic purposes is very important, but also important are the ritual sacrifices for addressing supplicant needs. This involves the individual need to have karmic balance, purification, restoration and forgiveness in life, because it also works in the universal level. Lives, when made positive through sacrifice, become that much more valuable in creating universal order.

The Yagam always works with a wheel, which will be the entry point into the cosmos and the physical attributes of Vedic laws on this world. Mastering this implement is part of Brahmanas training, because it is as complex as the universe It also works as a way to foretell future events, and helps to create positive elements for human affairs such as marriage, the building of properties and fields, and birth.

The offerings to the dieties belong both to the physical and spiritual worlds. The first can include anything, like grain from the fields, a musical instrument and the like. The second comes direct from the person, which are his thoughts and aspirations, with supporting offerings contained within the sacrificial vessel of the body, like breathe, sensations and more.

A Yagam is very powerful when all the manifestations and requisites are met and when the place it is performed is prepared well in advance. Preparations will include things like ritual cleansing, lustrations and supporting offerings that take out evil influences. All participants need to have undergone cleansing, too, and other preparations.

Time and space will be concentrated in this ritual, meaning that it becomes a locus or center through which the participants engage the divinities and the universe. You can do more studies about this matter at relevant sites that feature it. The universe awaits the sacrificial offerings of the faithful and devout.
