Beliefs Associated With Energy Healing

By Christine Taylor

Maintaining a healthy mind, body and spirit can often be challenging. While this is the case, there are practices which can assist when it comes to ongoing energy healing and overall well being. In some cases, Reiki can provide immediate relief. Whereas, in others ongoing massage and energy work such as Rolfing has been known to help individuals.

In most cases, practitioners of the healing arts are trained in specific areas. While this is the case, it should be noted that these individuals are not considered medical professionals. For, these methods often include, distance, hands-on and hands-off healing. At the same time, a number of nursing organizations and professionals have recently accepted therapeutic touch as a valid form.

Often considered Spiritual in nature, one guide refers to the process as being the transfer of energy from one being to another. While most often used on humans, the methods have also been known to work with various aspects of the animal kingdom. As such, it is considered to be a rather universal form. Most often, the recipient reports feeling a sense of heat during the process which results in the elimination of physical discomfort.

Schools involved in the practice include, Biofield, Spiritual, Contact, Distance, Therapeutic Touch, Reiki and Qigong along with many others. Two of the newest forms involved in this practice are those of sound and color. In the first, the recipient lays on a massage table while listening to a number of different tones in a sequential order which are played along the chakras. Whereas, colors are often presented in a sequential form through a number of slides or videos on a headset.

Most of these practices are considered spiritual though not religious and most often, non-denominational. While different from faith healing, it is important that those obtaining these services have a strong belief in the process. Otherwise, it can often be impossible for a provider to successfully transfer energy from oneself to the recipient due to blockages which disbelief can create.

While this is the case, some require more training than others. For example, Reiki requires practitioners to go through multi-levels of training. Whereas, those providing massage must go through massage school and obtain licensing in most areas of the world, including all states in the United States. Whereas, other forms which require no such training are often considered the most skeptical when it comes to these methods and techniques.

The most skeptical of these is often the distance method. For, it can often be difficult to understand how someone whether across the world, across town or across the world can provide energy which can travel to another human being. At the same time, there have been scientific studies which have proved that some distance forms have been beneficial.

Whether holding a belief in distance or other forms, those obtaining these services often report success. In most cases, the practices heal not only the body but also help create a balance in body, mind and spirit. While this is the case, only those whom have experienced the process and techniques can testify as to whether any of these methods have actually been successful in eliminating illness or pain associated with injury.
